Meloxicam 20 mg.
Target species
Cattle, swine, horses.
Indications
Bovine:
- In acute respiratory infections with adequate antibiotic therapy to reduce clinical symptoms in cattle.
- For use in diarrhea in combination with oral rehydration therapy to reduce clinical symptoms in calves over a week old and in ruminant calves.
- As an auxiliary therapy in the treatment of acute mastitis, in combination with antibiotic therapy.
Swine:
- In non-infectious disorders of the locomotor system to reduce symptoms of lameness and inflammation.
- As an auxiliary therapy in the treatment of septicemia and puerperal toxemia (mastitismetritis-agalactia syndrome) with an appropriate antibiotic therapy.
Horses:
- Relief of inflammation and pain in acute and chronic musculoskeletal disorders.
- Relief of pain associated with colic in horses.
Dosage and administration route
Cattle: single subcutaneous or intravenous injection of 0.5 mg meloxicam/kg b.w. (equivalent to 2.5 ml/100 kg b.w.) in association with antibiotic therapy or with oral rehydration therapy.
Swine: single intramuscular injection of 0.4 mg meloxicam/kg b.w. (equivalent to 2 ml/100 kg b.w.) in association with antibiotic therapy. If necessary, a second dose of meloxicam may be administered after 24 hours.
Horses: single intravenous injection of 0.6 mg meloxicam/kg b.w. (equivalent to 3 ml/100 kg b.w.).
Withdrawal period
Cattle: Meat: 15 days. Milk: 5 days.
Swine: 5 days
Horses: 5 days. Not allowed to be used on horses whose meat is intended for human consumption.
