Cattle, swine.
Indications
Infections associated with bacteria sensitive to ceftiofur:
Swine:
- Treatment of respiratory infections associated with Pasteurella multocida, Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae and Streptococcus suis.
Cattle:
- Treatment of bacterial respiratory disease associated with Mannheimia haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida and Histophilus somni.
- Treatment of acute interdigital necrobacillosis associated with Fusobacterium necrophorum and Bacteroides melaninogenicus (Porphyromonas asaccharolytica).
- Treatment of the bacterial component of postpartum (puerperal) acute metritis within 10 days after delivery associated with E. coli, Trueperella pyogenes (Arcanobacterium pyogenes) and Fusobacterium necrophorum.
Dosage and administration route
Swine: intramuscular injection. 3 mg ceftiofur/kg b.w./day, corresponding to 1 ml/16 kg b.w./day, for 3 days.
Bovine: subcutaneous injection.
- Respiratory disease: 1 mg of ceftiofur/kg b.w./day, corresponding to 1 ml/50 kg b.w. for 3-5 days.
- Acute interdigital necrobacillosis: 1 mg/kg b.w./day, corresponding to 1 ml/50 kg b.w./day for 3 days.
- Acute postpartum metritis in the 10 days after delivery: 1 mg ceftiofur/kg b.w./day, corresponding to 1 ml/50 kg b.w. for 5 consecutive days. In case of acute postpartum metritis, in some cases additional supportive therapy may be necessary.
The maximum volume to be administered at each injection point is 6 ml.
Withdrawal period
Swine: 5 days.
Bovine:
- Meat: 8 days.
- Milk: 0 days.
